Extracurricular Activities

University isn’t just about your lectures – there are all sorts of extracurricular activities to get involved in.

You can join Hull Computer Science Society (#hullCSS), the Gaming Society, FreeSide or the Robotics Society. They offer a range of events such as, specialist programming tutorial sessions, visits to computing sites, social activities with like-minded people, frag fests, Laserquest, or you could just build a world dominating robot!

And there are other activities, like Three Thing Game, where students work in teams to develop a full game over a weekend. Games must be based on three random words – hence the name for the event and games companies come to watch and get involved. Students are also encouraged to take part in international events such as Global Game Jam, NASA’s International Space Apps Challenge and the Microsoft Imagine Cup.

Take a look at what happens at our Three Thing Game.

You can read about it too on the Three Thing Game website.

Hull Computer Science students win the JISC Digifest Hackathon 2020:

Game Republic held their annual Student Showcase 2019 at the University of Hull, where students got the chance to put their work in front of game industry professionals.
